Leeds West Yorkshire

The city of Leeds in West Yorkshire is a major settlement in the North of England, UK. One of the core cities, it has a population of over 761,000 according to the 2007 estimates.

Outside of London, Leeds is the largest business and finance centre in the country and it is also the largest location for legal services away from the capital. Some predict that as commerce becomes decentralised over the coming decades, Leeds will emerge as the financial centre of the United Kingdom. It is also the fastest growing city in the UK according to the Office for National Statistics.

Leeds borders another large city - Bradford - and the two form the Leeds Bradford Larger Urban Zone, which is the 3rd largest urban area in the UK, behind London and Manchester. However, as well as being largely covered with Green Belt land, Leeds is within 20 miles of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, which offers some of the country's most picturesque landscapes. The Dales are popular with tourists from around Great Britain and Northern Ireland, as well as abroad, due to its cultural and historic significance.
