Keighley West Yorkshire
The town of Keighley is situated in the borough of Bradford, West Yorkshire. According to the 2001 census, it has a population of around 51,400 residents.
Keighley West Yorkshire is part of Airedale and is found within 'Bronte Country' - an area of the South Pennines where the famous sisters drew inspiration for much of their literature. They lived in the nearby village of Haworth.
Cotton and wool textiles processing have traditionally been the dominant industries of the town. This led to it being home to producers of textile machinery and in turn, manufacturers of other industrial machines.
Keighley gained its own town council in 2002, giving it independence from the Borough of Bradford. It encompasses the villages of Cross Roads, Haworth, Oakworth, Oxenhope, Silsden, Stanbury and Steeton in W Yorks, UK.
