Halifax West Yorkshire
The town of Halifax is based in the borough of Calderdale in West Yorkshire - a county in the North of England, UK.
According to the 2001 census, it has a population of just over 82,000.
It is traditionally a market town and has a history based in the manufacture of wool products and confectionery. It is now more famous for being the base of the Halifax Building Society.
The town is close to the picturesque South Pennines, which is popular with ramblers and holiday tourists, but is also close to the towns of Bradford, Rochdale, Brighouse and Huddersfield.
Halifax is located 4 miles from the M62 Motorway. The First Calderdale & Huddersfield bus service links the town to Dewsbury and Wakefield, and the major cities of Leeds and Bradford, as well as Huddersfield. There are rail links to Keighley, Skipton, Carlisle, Morecombe and Bradford.
